BP TO LOSE ITS ENERGY EMPIRE

The British energy concern sells stakes in several natural gas fields in Asia and in the Northern Sea to pay 2010 Gulf of Mexico disaster's reparations. The war between the USA and BP is still going on.

A 37,2 Million of USD reparation moves British energy concern BP to sell out stakes in several world gas fields. On Monday 12/18, BP sold the 34,3% of stakes in Chinese Yacheng gas field to Kuwait energy company KUFPEC.

Yacheng gas field, which ensures natural gas supplies to Hong Kong by a pipeline in Southern Chinese Sea seabed, will be now earned just by the Kuwaiti company and China's national energy concern CNOOP.

The Yacheng stakes' sell in not the one BP sell operation to a Persian Gulf company. In November 2012, BP sold stakes in several natural gas fields in the Northern Sea to Abu Dhabi TAQA company.

Moreover, BP concern sold the 50% of the rich Sean natural gas field to Scottish SPP company.

The most important BP sell operation has been the total cession of BP owned stakes in third Russian energy company TNK-BP to Russia's national oil major Rosneft, which automatically became the world first oil company.

BP is selling stakes all over the world in order to pay for natural, economy and environmental damages provoked in the Gulf of Mexico in March 2010, when an accident in drilling platform Deepwater Horizon killed 11 workers and reversed in the sea 5 Million of oil barrels.

According to a US Federal Court's official sentence, BP concern has to pay 37,3 Million of USD, among which 7,8 Million of USD for reparations to the local population.

BP contested the sentence because the quantity of money fixed by the Federal Court overcomes the individual income tax returns of operators in fishing and touristic activities of the US areas, which have been involved in the environmental accident.

The Federal Court's sentence is not the one sanction BP has to pay for the environmental accident in the Gulf of Mexico. BP already paid 4,5 Million of USD to the Department of Justice in order to stop the process on the death of the 11 workers.

BP also paid 1,8 Millions of USD for the environmental damages in the Gulf of Mexico US coasts.

Moreover, a private action in New Orleans Federal Court could oblige BP to pay additional 8 Million of USD, than the quantity of money fizzed by the US Federal Court.

In addition to the economy deal, the US Agency for the Environmental Protection forbade US Federal Government to sign any agreement with BP till the British concern will respect US environmental respect's rules.

In June 2010, US President Barack Obama told that BP must pay for environmental, human and economy damages provoked in US coast, and compared the incident in the Gulf of Mexico to a natural catastrophes as an earthquake or an hurricane.

The US Authorities's war against BP is quite courageous, because the British concern has been the first USA oil supplier till 2011.

According to official data, USA are the first oil importers in the world.
