Milan city council debated on Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Assessor Tabacci's suspension

The "left-centre" majority is divided on Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but remains united about budget Assessor's suspension. The centre-right opposition asks for solidarity to Israel and accuses Assessor Tabacci of lack of interest in Milan's political life.

The middle east divides Milan's city council. On Monday 11/19 the Democratic Party's councillor Ruggero Gabbai sentenced Milan city council should condemn all victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

FDS councillor also asked Milan city council to express the most important Lombardian town's mourning in an open way by a resolution of the city council.

Sonega's position has been strongly contested by centre-right opposition FLI party's councillor Manfredi Palmeri, who underlined that Israel is a democracy which has the right to answer to weapons' attacks made by Palestinia.

Moreover, FLI councillor - a member of the centre-right opposition, which is composed by right wing PDL party and the regionalist Northern League - invited Milan city council to express solidarity to Israeli victims and to Israel's capital Tel Aviv, which is a Milan's twin town.

During last weekend, Palestinian Authority military attacked several town of Israel, which gave an army response in the stripe of Gaza.

Milan's mayor Giuliano Pisapia did not give any answer to the question because of a debate about budget assessor Bruno Tabacci.

Mayor Pisapia appreciated Assessor Tabacci for having suspended his mandate following the decision to take part in centre-left coalition's national primary election as the centrist API party's candidate.

The Democratic Party's spokeswoman Carmela Rozza also defended Assessor Tabacci, underlying that his good work permitted to arrange Milan's city budget in a period of economic crisis.
