QATAR TO HELP CROATIA FOR THE LNG TERMINAL

Qatari energy concern Qatargas signs an agreement with Croatian government to build a LNG terminal to guarantee Croatia and EU energy security. The Japanese to control UK gas and oil fields.

 

Croatian LNG terminal is important to improve the EU energy independence, and Qatar gave a considerable help to realize the project. On Thursday 12/26 Qatari energy company Qatargas signed a 923 Million USD agreement to build in Croatia a 5 bcm of LNG per year's terminal.

 

As Bloomberg reported, Croatian Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak underlined that the project is fundamental to ensure Croatia sure gas supplies. Moreover, Croatian LNG terminal will carry gas to Central Europe by the EU Northern-Southern Corridor.

 

This EU pipeline's system from Croatian LNG terminal to the Poland's one in Swinoujscie has been planed by the European Commission to decrease the EU dependence on Russia's gas supplies, which actually cover the 40% of the EU total energy need.

 

The Croatian LNG terminal is also going to carry liquefied gas to the South via the Ionic Adriatic Pipeline - IAP - to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline - TAP, which has been planed to deliver to Italy 21 bcm of Azerbaijani gas from the border between Turkey and Greece via Albania.

 

The contemporary work of Croatian LNG terminal and TAP will ensure Europe a gas supplies diversification. In addition to natural gas from Azerbaijan, LNG will be imported in the EU from Qatar, Algeria, Norway, Egypt and the USA.

 

In contemporary with Qatar's deal in Croatia, Japanese energy company JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration bought stakes from Italian concern ENI in the Northern Sea.

 

As Natural Gas Europe reported, Japanese energy company aims to increase oil exploitation in UK sea to 50 Thousand of barrels per day.
