The European Commission raises the investment for an LNG terminal in Poland and the modernization of LNG distribution in Spain. USA ready to sell shale liquefied gas to Europe
For the EU the liquefied gas is a possible solution to decrease the dependence e on Russia's gas supplies. On Tuesday 1/8 the European Commission raised to 134 Billion of EUR, from the previous 94, the investment for Polish LNG terminal in Swinoujscie.
The Polish LNG terminal is planed in Pomerania region to import 7.5 bcd of liquefied gas from Qatar, in order to decrease Poland's and EU energy dependence on Russia.
Moscow's gas supplies actually cover the 89% of Poland's national energy need, and the 40% of the EU total one.
The LNG terminal in Swinoujscie is a priority for EU energy security's plan, which prevents the realization of the Northern-Southern Corridor: a pipeline's system planed to carry gas from Poland and Krk LNG terminal in Croatia to Central Europe's countries such as Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and Hungary.
In addition to Poland, the European Commission invested also in LNG distribution in Spain. Madrid is the main developed EU country in what concerns LNG terminals, which guarantee Spanish economy to import liquefied gas from Qatar and Egypt, and decrease the energy dependence on Algeria.
The EU investment on the liquefied gas canned also profit from USA shale gas export.
After the exploitation of shale gas allowed Washington to increase national gas export, Barack Obama US Presidential Administration decided to sign contract for shale liquefied gas supplies not only with India, South Korea, Singapore and Australia, but also with non-FTA countries as the EU ones.
In addition to the democratic Presidential Administration, also the republican minority support shale gas export to the EU in order to help Europe decrease the energy dependence on Russia.
