USA vs Russia: Obama and Putin to start a new energy Cold War

The US president will block Washington's diplomatic relationship with Russia if the Moscow does not respect  HR. Gas export competition in Asia and Europe is the true new cold gas war's motivation

He has been known - and criticized - because of his soft politics towards Russia, but US President Barack Obama have assumed a resolute position with Russian Federation's President Vladimir Putin.

As Gazeta Wyborcza reported, President Obama signed the Jackson-Vanik amendment: an act which suspends the diplomatic relationship between the USA and Russia if the Kremlin does not respect HR.

US President’s decision follows several hostile towards the USA measures Russian President Putin has recently supported.

The Russian parliament approved visa sanctions for those Americans who act against Russian interests, and expelled from Russia NGO financed by the US government.

In addition to politics and HR, a reason of the contrast between USA and Russia is gas.

After domestic shale gas fields exploitation's beginning, the USA increased gas exports, and enforced the contractual position in Asia, (where the Obama democratic presidential administration has concentrated all the efforts).

Washington has fostered gas relationships with India, increased shale liquefied gas export to South Korea and Singapore, and started negotiations with Japan and China.

Russia, which is now the first world gas exporter, has extended Western Siberia-Pacific Ocean pipeline to I crease Japan's and China's energy dependence on Russian gas and oil supplies.

Moreover, Russian national gas major Gazprom has strengthened gas export to Japan in exchange of Japanese energy company Itachi participation in Europe in Southstream pipeline.

Europe can be the new gas cold gas world’s field.

Obama's presidential administration, together with the Republican minority in the parliament, endorsed the shale liquefied export's start to the EU in order to challenge Russia in the European market and allow the EU to diversify continental gas supplies.

Nowadays, the EU depends on Russian gas supplies for the 40% of the total energy need.

US shale export can represent a way to decrease Europe's energy dependence on Russia, which endangers EU member states countries national security.
