Lombardy Region: centre-left coalition primaries to be hold under the snow

The snow which is falling in Milan and in several other Lombardian towns could decrease the number of voters of the Civic Pact of Lombardy's primaries.

On Saturday 12/15 centre-left coalition's parties will name its candidate as the Lombardy Region’s governor by a popular consultation between three competitors.

Umberto Ambrosoli is a Milanese lawyer, well known for being the son of a victim by terrorism.

Ambrosoli presents himself as the leader of a Civic Coalition which includes not only political parties, but also movements and associations not yet represented in any political force.

The Milanese lawyer is supported by the Democratic Party of Lombardy, the centrist API party, and Milan's mayor Giuliano Pisapia.

Alessandra Kustermann is a well known Milanese primary doctor and Democratic Party's activist.

Kustermann proposes a radical change of Lombardy's health system, which has been presented by right wing Roberto Formigoni Lombardy Region's governor as the better of all the regional health systems in Italy.

The primary doctor is supported by a minority of Democratic Party of Lombardy's militants and the majority of left-wing SEL party's supporters.

Andrea Di Stefano is an economist and a journalist, who promises to increase job places’ number in Lombardy  and to change the most important Italian Region's environmental policy.

Di Stefano is supported by a minority of SEL party's militants, and by the far left wing FDS parties' federation.

The Civic Pact for Lombardy primary election's organization declared it's expecting around 100 thousand of voters, but the weather could decrease the expected number.

The winner of Centre-left coalition's primary election is going to challenge in next early regional elections with the regionalist Northern League's national secretary Roberto Maroni, which is supported also by the laic internal stream in the right wing PDL party.

Another candidate in early Lombardy’s Regional election is PDL MEP and former Milan's mayor Gabriele Albertini, which is supported by governor Formigoni's CL conservative internal stream in the PDL party.

PDL party and the Northern League ruled Lombardy Region in a coalition since 2010.

Governor Formigoni for four times has been elected as the Lombardy's governor, in 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010.

In 2012, Formigoni dismissed his government after scandals of corruption and relationship with mafia invested several Assessors and ruling coalition's member, as PDL Housing Assessor Domenico Zambetti.
