Lombardy Region: the Regional Council is divided on the budget

The Northern League is against the approval of extraordinary budget measures, while the PDL party invites all political forces to find a common position. The Democratic Party of Lombardy endorses measures to unify the regional administration to the national one.

During a non-ordinary administration Lombardy's Regional Council should not approve exstraordinary budget mesures. On Thursday 11/22 Lombardian Regional Council's second  committee "Insitutional Affairs" examined a budget proposal of the Regional government.

The Northern League's councillor Davide Boni sentenced the Regional Council, which is going to dismiss in few month, should not approve a budget law which introduces non-ordinary measures.

In particular, councillor Boni  did not support the creation of an auditing of accounts board, an internal transfer of employes, and bank's fostering measures which have been inserted in the regional government's proposal.

PDL right wing party's spokesman in the committee, Roberto Alboni, invited all the political forces to support the Lombardian government budget's proposal in order to demonstrate that the Regional Council is working efficiently despite of the extraordinary moment.

Spokesman Alboni also proposed to postpone the committee's vote on the Lombardian Regional government budget proposal, in order to find a common position of all committee's political forces.

The Democratic Party of Lombardy' spokesman in the committee Franco Mirabelli sentenced the introduction of an auditing of accounts board is an important measure which harmonizes the regional administration to the national one.

Moreover, Mirabelli underlined the importance to solve the situation of a large number of regional enterprises' employes, who are still waiting for a transfer or a new job contract.

Second "Insitutional Affairs" committee's chairman Vanni Ligasacchi decided to postpone the committee's vote on Lombardian government budget proposal.

Chairman Ligasacchi, a  PDL right-wing party's politician, also sentenced the committee should end the budget proposal's exam by the end of the month.

Lombardy Region is going to face a early regional election after the regional government, led by governor Roberto Formigoni and supported by a right-wing PDL-Northern League coalition, fell because of several scandals of corruption.

Governor Formigoni, a PDL politician lied to the PDL internal conservative stream CL, four times has been elected as the Lombardy Region governor by a popular vote in 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010.

On early regional election, governor Formigoni is going to support the candidature of former Milan's mayor Gabriele Albertini, whereas the Northern League named its national secretary Roberto Maroni as the official candidate as Lombardy Region's governor.

The centre-left opposition will organize a primary election. Among the candidates to centre-left "Civic Pact" coalition's nomination, the Democratic Party of Lombardy supports Milanese lawyer Umberto Ambrosoli.

SEL left wing party also supports Ambrosoli's candidature, the Socialist Party endorses Milan City Council member Roberto Biscardini, and the far left wing FDS presents Andrea Di Stefano's candidature.
