The right wing PDL party is working for a coalition with the centrist UDC party to support former Milan’s mayor Gabriele Albertini's candidature. The Northern League decided to support its national secretary Roberto Maroni, whereas the centre-left opposition will organize a primary election to choose its leader
The election day and the most important candidatures are the Lombardian electoral campaign’s first topics.
On Tuesday 11/9, Lombardy Region's Governor Roberto Formigoni sentenced via Twitter that the national Ministry of Interiors is going to fix the next regional election day on the 27th of January.
Moreover, Lombardian Governor stated to the press that the PDL right wing party’s candidate is going to be former Milan's mayor Gabriele Albertini.
According to Governor Formigoni, Albertini, which is going to present officially his candidature in few days, is now working for the electoral program's draft.
Albertini is a PDL politician, who could be able to convince Lombardian moderates to cast their ballots in his favour.
Former Milan's mayor will be probably supported also by the centrist party UDC.
During last two years, the UDC party did not supported Formigoni’s right regional government, which has been composed by the PDL party and the Northern League.
On Monday 11/5, the Northern League broke the alliance with the PDL, and decided to run alone on next regional election.
After a National Committee's summit, the Northern League refused to support Albertini's run to the Lombardian government presidency, and decided to candidate its National Secretary Roberto Maroni.
Also the opposition is thinking about its candidature. According to last news, a primary election is going to be held the 12/15, in order to invest the centre-left coalition's leader by the popular vote.
SEL left wing party’s councillor Giulio Cavalli, IDV centre-left party’s spokesman Stefano Zamponi, and the Democratic Party of Lombardy's councillor Pippo Civati have already decided to participate in the primary election.
Moreover, in the primary election the Democratic Party of Lombardy is going to candidate also the well-known left wing doctor Alessandra Kunstermann and the Christian-democrat advocate Umberto Ambrosoli.
Formigoni’s Lombardian government fall last 10/22 after several corruption scandals interested different Assessors as Domenico Zambetti: a PDL politician arrested last September for having bought votes from mafia.
Governor Formigoni, a PDL politician and leader of the conservative CL internal stream, led the Lombardian government during last 17 years.
Since 1995, Formigoni four times has been re-elected as the Lombardy's governor by the popular vote in 2000, 2005 and 2010.
