Lombardy Regional Council backs measures about Mantua's earthquake

PDL party and the Lombardian League supported a contested by centre-left opposition law. The Democratic Party of Lombardy and the IDV party accuse the right wing ruling majority of lack of respect of council's rules

An intensive debate closed Lombardy Regional Council last legislature's session on Wednesday 12/19.

The most important Italian Regional Assembly approved a law containing several measures as personnel assumption in regional agencies, financial deals, and local interventions.

Right wing PDL party's councilor Roberto Alboni told the law is urgent and need to be voted in last Regional Council's session.

Carlo Maccari, another PDL councilor, explained the law's approval ensures measures in favor of those Mantua Province's countries, which have been involved in May 2012 earthquake.

Ugo Parolo, a spokesman of the regionalist Lombardian League, painted the law's vote as a demonstration of courage and responsibility by the right wing ruling majority.

Democratic Party of Lombardy's councilor Enrico Brambilla sentenced the regional council has no power to approve the law, because it's not urgent nor extraordinary.

Brambilla underlined that Lombardy Regional Council can approve just urgent measures after last October the majority of councilors dismissed themselves, provoking the call of an early regional election.

Centre-left IDV party's spokesman Stefano Zamponi accused the right-wing majority of lack of respect of regional council's statute.

Moreover, Zamponi underlined that some of law's points have already been rejected by the National Constitutional Court.

The law has been backed by right-wing ruling majority's PDL and Lombardian League parties, whereas the centre-left and centrist oppositions - the Democratic Party of Lombardy, IDV, left wing SEL party, and the centrist UDC party - voted against.
