Lombardy Region's budget's been backed

The Lombardian Regional Council approved final and preventive budgets with a financial law. Right wing ruling majority supported the proposals, whereas centre-left opposition's political forces did not express a common position.

The last act of the legislation occurred in Milan on 12/10 during a Regional Council plenary session, in which both the final and the preventive Lombardy's budget and a regional financial law have been approved.

Right wing PDL party's councillor Doriano Riparbelli told the regional budget has been conceived in a period of difficult economical situation and financial cuts made by the national government.

The PDL councillor also sentenced Lombardy's budget has been composed in accordance with the EU parameters, and it reduces the expenses for partnership projects, communication and stationery.

Northern League's spokesman Stefano Galli told he's satisfied by the budget proposal. However, he criticized the lack of attention media have about the approval of a courageous budget plan.

Democratic Party of Lombardy's councillor Carlo Spreafico underlined the budget could be ameliorated in several of its parts, but in general the proposal's approval makes Lombardy the better Italian region for what concerns austerity measures.

Critics to the budget proposal has been moved by centre-left IDV party's spokesman Stefano Zamponi, who proposed a better examination of the expenses for electricity, energy, and Lombardy Regional Council buildings' managing.

The right wing ruling coalition, which is composed by right wing PDL party and the regionalist Northern League, voted in favor of the budget's proposal, whereas centre-left opposition forces assumed different positions.

The Democratic Party of Lombardy, left wing SEL party, and centrist UDC party backed the Lombardy Region's budget proposal. Centre-left IDV party voted against.
