Nabucco construction to start in Bulgaria

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borysov announced the EU pipeline realization will start in Bulgary on January. Estonia to say no to Nordstream extension in Estonia national waters.

Bulgaria and Estonia say no to Russian projects and support European Commission energetic policy. On Monday 10/22 Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov announced first Nabucco pipeline trace will be realized in Bulgaria on next January.

According to BNT news agency, during a Council of Europe official meeting Borysov underlined the strategic importance Nabucco pipeline has for Bulgarian energetic national security.

Bulgaria recently build new pipelines to connect Bulgarian national gas system to Serbian, Turkish, and Romanian one, in order to diversify national gas supplies from the one from Russia.

Nabucco pipeline has been projected to carry gas from Azerbaijan directly to Europe, in order to decrease EU dependence on Russian gas supplies.

Nabucco is supported by the European Commission and the governments of Austria, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.

Pipeline shareholders are Austrian company OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, German RWE, and Romanian Transgaz.

Also Estonia took a position in favor of the EU energetic policy. In an offial letter to Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet invited Estonian Defense Ministry Urmans Reinsalu not to support the Nordstream pipeline extention in Estonian national waters.

As Eesti Paevaleht news agency reports, Estonian Defense Minister retained Nordstream pipeline as a dangerous project for Estonia's national security.

Planed by the national Russian gas major Gazprom and the German government, the Nordstream carry gas from Russia to Greifswald German terminal via Baltic Sea.

Nordstream sub-marine pipeline has been projected by Moscow also to isolate several EU countries as Poland, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

The pipeline's shareholders are Russian national major Gazprom, German concerns E.On and Wingas, French concern Suez GDF and Dutch company Gasunie.

As Lombardi Nel Mondo reported, a strong interest to a Nordstream extension to England has been expressed also by UK Conservative ruling party.
