PITTELLA, BUSSOLATI, CAZZULANI (PD): "ITALIAN DEMOCRATS COMMITTED IN PEACE AND DEMOCRACY IN UKRAINE"
Gianni Pittella, the First Vicepresident of European Parliament, Pietro Bussolati, the Secretary of Milanese Democratic Party -PD- and Matteo Cazzulani, Chair Appointed of Milanese PD relationships with Ukrainian dissidents and world democratic and progressive parties, on Wednesday 2/26 held a press conference in Milan to call PD for an assertive role in order to ensure peace and democracy in Ukraine.

"Ukraine urgently needs both economical help from EU and IMF and institutional reforms, in order to ensure a quick development of democracy. Italy and EU have to cooperate with Russia, in order to guarantee Ukraine's territorial integrity and show the Russians that economical agreements of Ukraine with EU are not a measure against Russia. On the contrary, EU needs a democratic Ukraine, in order to establish a tighter partnership with Russia than it used to be till now" Vicepresident Pittella said, adding that PD supported and will support the Ukrainian revolution "because it was made by sincere democrats, and not by far right extremists who represent just a small minority among Ukrainian demonstrators".

"Ukrainians are a part of the Italian society thanks to those women and men from Ukraine that live and work in Milanese metropolitan area, in particularly in welfare and health domains. Milanese PD is naturally interested in what happens in Ukraine and will continue to support the development of peace, democracy and freedom in this important country, as it did during past months since Ukrainian revolution began: Milanese PD activists are gonna be punctually informed about what's going on in Ukraine" Secretary Bussolati added.

"Milanese PD is scared about the confrontation in Crimea between local pro-Russian Ukrainians and Tatars of Crimea, as well as about the strengthening of Russian army's presence near Ukrainian borders. EU must ensure peace in Ukraine by proposing Russia the signature of a common OSCE document that obliges both EU and Moscow to guarantee free and fair elections and the respect of territorial integrity of Ukraine" Chair Cazzulani said.

"Ukrainian demonstrators are not in favor of EU and are not even dangerous nazis, as several Italian medias use to write. Ukrainian revolution was a peacefully protest made by normal people who simply fought for their freedom, democracy and justice: right now, Ukraine needs a new Government and a new political elite that will be able to drive the country toward progress, development and equity" was added by Dana Kuchmash, the Spokeswoman of Euromaidan Lombardy, who also took part to the press conference.
