Ukraine: frauds and majoritarian colleges "to save" President Yanukovych in UA parliamentary election

The Party of Regions and communists ruling coalition loses in the proportional elections, but the win of several pro-presidential candidates in majoritarian colleges ensure the Ukrainian President a strong majority. Jailed opposition's Leader Yulia Tymoshenko started a hunger strike.

Kyiv - The Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych can be satisfied after the pro-presidential coalition kept the majority in the Ukrainian national parliament, despite of the opposition's win in the proportional election.

According to the 86,78% of poll stations' results, the Party of Regions, which is politically supported by Ukrainian President Vitkor Yanukovych - and is financed by the most important oligarchs of the country - leads the electoral election with the 31% of votes.

President Yanukovych's Party of Regions overcomes the United Opposition "Fatherland", which obtained the 24% of votes, and the communists - the Party of Regions' coalition partners in pro-presidential parliamentary majority - voted in the 13% of bailouts.

The same percentage has been obtained by the second opposition UDAR party, whereas the far-right "Freedom" party, which signed with the United Opposition Fatherland a cooperation's agreement, collected the 9%.

The proportional result, which ensure to the democratic orange forces a small majority, has been radically changed by the results in the majoritarian election, by which is elected the half of new Ukrainian MP.

According to the 78% of the poll, the Party of Region won in 114 majoritarian colleges, the United Opposition "Fatherland" in 24, the Freedom party in 11, and the UDAR party in 5.

The Party of Regions also won in other 43 majoritarian colleges thanks to independent candidates, which presented themselves without openly express their depence from President Yanukovych party's funding.

Several fraud and irregularity committed by the Party of Regions during the electoral campaign and the election day doubt the effective regularity of the election.

According to the international observation missions, the European Commission, and several opposition's parties denunciations, the Party of Regions used public resources in order to promote its list and its candidates in majoritarian colleges.

Moreover, the President Yanukovych's party organized "carrousels" to carry voters by bus casting their bailout in several poll station, and invited voters to support the Party of Regions near the poll stations.

By an official statement, EU Minister of Foreign Affairs Catrine Ashton and EU Enlargement and the Integration Commissioner Stefan Fule asked the Ukrainian Central Electoral Commission to totally respect the Ukrainian People's political orientation.

The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz, expressed his concernment about the lack of pair opportunities between all the challengers in the Ukrainan parliamentary election.

The western observation missions led by OSCE, PACE and NATO Parliamentary Assembly strongly criticized Ukrainian elections because of for a lack of transparency and irregularities committed during the pre-electoral period.

Moreover, the Western observation mission contested two main opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuri Lutsenko's absence due to political arrests organized by the Presidential Administration in order to eliminate Yanukovych's strongest challengers from the parliamentary election.

Also the electoral frequency confirms Party of Regions's frauds. The majority of the 58% of Ukrainians cast their bailout in Galicia, Volynia and in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which are the orange democratic opposition parties's stronghold.

At the same time, the lowest frequency is registered in the Odessa region, in Crimea, and in the independent town of Sebastopol.

A protest against Party of Regions's fraud has been started by Former Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko.

As the leader of the United Opposition "Fatherland", Yulia Tymoshenko announced a hunger strike from the prison of Kharkiv, where she has been jailed more than a year ago.

Yulia Tymoshenko, who personally led the Ukrainian democratic process, known as the Orange Revolution, was appointed as Ukrainian PM twice since 2005 until 2009.

During her governments, all the elections organized in Ukraine have been considered as free and fair.
