"YANUKOVYCH LOST THE LAST OPPORTUNITY, BUT THE EU MUST KEEP THE DOOR OPEN TO UKRAINE" CAZZULANI (FILITALIA)
MILAN - Matteo Cazzulani, the Chairman of Integration Committee of Filitalia International and an Italian witness of the trial of former Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko, stressed that Ukraine ended definitely the road to Europe and Democracy.
Chairman Cazzulani, who underlined that the decision by the Ukrainian Parliament not to allow urgent medical treatment to Tymoshenko avoids the the sign of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, said that Ukraine lost its last opportunity to become an European democracy.
Chairman Cazzulani stressed that now it is clear that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych wants to keep Ukraine neutral between the EU and Russia: a wrong strategy that, as demonstrated in Belarus, strengthens Moscow's plan to rebuild a new Russian empire in former USSR.
However, Chairman Cazzulani underlined that the EU should not close the door forever to Ukraine, in order not to lose the opportunity to enlarge its free common market to an important European Country if Ukraine will become again a democracy.
"I'm quite disappointed by the vote of the Ukrainian Parliament, but it was unavoidable: President Yanukovych never respected EU values as democracy and human rights. However, EU political leadership should now keep the door open to Ukraine, in order not to loose definitely the opportunity to integrate an important country for EU geopolitical interest" said Chairman Cazzulani.

THE MATTER
On Thursday 11/21 the Ukrainian Parliament rejected six proposals of allowing Tymoshenko to receive medical treatment in Germany: a condition posed by the EU as basilar in order to sign the AA.
The AA is a document which integrates Ukraine with EU free common market and anticipates the political integration of Ukraine in the EU.
Russia aims to integrate Ukraine in the Customs Union: a project of political integration conceived by Moscow to strengthen Russian hegemony in former USSR. The strengthening of Russia's influence on Ukraine endangers both EU internal integration and EU position in the world globalized market.
Yulia Tymoshenko was jailed in 2011 after a trial that was considered by the International Community as politically motivated. Since President Yanukovych came to power in 2010, members of the opposition and independent medias were repressed, and frauds by pro-Presidential forces occurred during Local and Parliamentary Election in 2010 and 2012.

ASSOCIAZIONE UCRAINA. CAZZULANI (FILITALIA): "YANUKOVYCH ANTIDEMOCRATICO MA L'UE NON CHIUDA A KYIV"
Matteo Cazzulani, Presidente della Commisisone Intergrazione del Distretto Italia del Distretto Italia di Filitalia International e testimone italiano del processo Tymoshenko, ha dichiarato che l'Ucraina ha arrestato definitivamente il suo cammino di integrazione verso l'Unione Europea.
Il Presidente Cazzulani, che ha evidenziato come il mancato permesso di cure mediche urgenti all'ex-Premier ucraino Yulia Tymoshenko da parte del Parlamento ucraino abbia impedito la firma dell'Accordo di Associazione UE-Ucraina, ha evidenziato come l'Ucraina abbia anche perso l'ultima possibilità per diventare una moderna democrazia europea.
Con la rinuncia all'integrazione nell'UE, il Presidente ucraino, Viktor Yanukovych, ha dimostrato di volere mantenere l'Ucraina in una posizione di neutralità tra l'Europa e la Russia: una tattica errata che, come dimostra il caso della Bielorussia, finisce inevitabilmente per aiutare il disegno di Mosca di rafforzare la sua egemonia nello spazio ex-URSS.
Nonostante il voto del Parlamento Europeo, il Presidente Cazzulani ha invitato l'UE a non chiudere definitivamente la porta in faccia all'Ucraina per non pregiudicare per sempre la possibile integrazione di un Paese fondamentale per l'interesse geopolitico europeo una volta che la democrazia sarà ristabilita a Kyiv.
"Sono deluso dalla votazione del Parlamento ucraino, ma non è una sorpresa: dalla sua salita al potere, Yanukovych non ha mai rispettato i valori europei come democrazia e diritti umani -ha dichiarato il Presidente Cazzulani- L'UE tuttavia deve mantenere aperta la possibilità di integrazione dell'Ucraina per non lasciare nelle mani della Russia un Paese europeo per storia, cultura e tradizioni".

IL FATTO
Nella giornata di mercoledì, 21 Novembre, il Parlamento ucraino ha vietato cure mediche all'ex-Premier ucraino Yulia Tymoshenko: una condizione basilare che l'UE ha posto per la firma dell'Accordo di Assocazione.
Questo documento, che consente l'integrazione di Kyiv nel mercato unico UE, anticipa l'integrazione politica dell'Ucraina in Unione Europea.
La Russia si oppone alla firma dell'Accordo di Associazione perché vuole inglobare l'Ucraina nell'Unione Doganale Eurasiatica: progetto di integrazione sovranazionale varato dalla Mosca per estendere l'egemonia del Cremlino nello spazio ex-sovietico.
L'inglobamento dell'Ucraina nell'Unione Doganale Eurasiatica è una sconfitta geopolitica per l'UE, che vedrebbe naufragare la possibilità di rafforzare la propria economia tramite l'integrazione di un Paese dalle enormi potenzialità industriali, umane ed agricole.
Yulia Tymoshenko è stata incarcerata nel 2011 dopo un processo ritenuto dalla Comunità Internazionale politicamente motivato. Dalla salita al potere del Presidente Yanukovych nel 2010, l'opposizione e i media indipendenti hanno subito repressioni, mentre le Elezioni Amministrative e Parlamentari del 2010 e 2012 sono state caratterizzate da brogli.
