Centre-left primaries: Matteo Renzi motivates his electoral committees

Christian-democrat young Florence's mayor supports the importance to follow a dream of change to make Italian politics better and younger. Renzi also criticized too strict primaries' rules

Florence - 2000 electoral committe in all Italy and the old Leopolda railway station full of supporters are the elements young Florence's mayor Matteo Renzi can use to win centre-left primary election.

During a national meeting with the coordinators of his electoral committees, Matteo Renzi declared the necessity to win the electoral competition by following a dream, and not just by presenting a program.

Matteo Renzi sentenced he will end public funding to political parties, and he will work to avoid the fiscal pressure's increase.

Moreover, Florence's young mayor affirmed the necessity to convince the old political class to quit politics in favor of a new generation moved by the desire of change and a better comprehension of the reality.

Young Florence's mayor also called his supporters to help him during last week of the electoral campaign. Renzi underlined the importance to convince a high number of voters to cast their ballot after a pre-registration to centre-left primary election.

In particular, Renzi sentenced the majority of Italian voters will cast their ballot for him, but the pre-registration's rules do not encourage a large number of people to go to poll stations.

Florence young mayor also underlined he's less supported among the oldest generation and the voters in southern Italian regions, as Apulia.

"Primaries' rules don't allow a large participation to the vote, but we have to work as a team, and convince our friend that centre-left primaries' pre-registration is not an official registration to a centre-left party" told Florence's young mayor.

On Sunday 11/25 the centre-left coalition is going to held a primary election to choose its candidate to next spring parliamentary election.

Matteo Renzi, a Christian-democrat young Democratic Party's member, will challenge with Democratic Party national secretary Pierluigi Bersani, which is supported by influent CGIL work union and the Democratic Party's establishment.

Other competitors are left wing SEL national leader and Apulia Region governor Nichi Vendola, centrist API party and Milan's budget assessor Bruno Tabacci, and Democratic Party member Laura Puppato.
