Former Milan's mayor and right PDL party's MEP could stop the membership with his political subject in case of a lack of support. A left-wing movement even forbid Albertini to use the list's name he chose.
A former mayor of the most important Lombardian town risks to run without a party and even a list's name.
On Thursday 11/15, former Milan's mayor Gabriele Albertini officially announced he will candidate as Lombardy Region's governor.
During a public speech at Bocconi University, Albertini fostered his choice by declaring the will to resign from the PDL party's membership if the right-wing political force he is member of is not going to support him.
Albertini's fear is motivated after several rumors sentenced about the PDL party intention to support Northern League's candidate Roberto Maroni in order to reestablish the ruling coalition which during last two year supported Roberto Formigoni 's government.
Once he obtained governor Formigoni's official endorsement, Albertini declared he will represent all Lombardian moderates by the creation of an European People's Party Section in Lombardy named "Civic Lombardy".
Anyway, Albertini's project had troubles since the beginning starting by the list's name.
On Wednesday 11/15, the "Civic Milan Movement" - an association near to left wing actual Milan's mayor Giuliano Pisapia - officially claimed the paternity of "Civic Lombardy" brand, and forbade Albertini to use it during next regional electoral campaign.
In addition to Albertini and Maroni, who announced he will be supported by the Northern League and several other civic lists, the other candidate in Lombardian regional election will probably be Umberto Ambrosoli.
Ambrosoli, a well known Milanese lawyer, obtained the Democratic Party of Lombardy's nomination for next centre-left primary election.
Ambrosoli will probably challenge with left wing SEL party's councillor Giulio Cavalli, centre-left IDV party's spokesman Stefano Zamponi, and well known left-wing doctor Alessandra Kunstermann.
